SP-2. Making the Sapporo Declaration in Action toward the Achievement of SDGs: Contribution of Chemical Engineering to the Sustainable Development in Small Islands Countries <Live/Virtual> <Closed session>

Organizer(s): Yamamoto Mitsuo (Univ. of Tokyo), Fujioka Satoko (Keio Univ.), Yagi Tadashi (Mitsui Chemicals), Matsumoto Hideyuki (Tokyo Tech), Fujioka Keiko (Functional Fluids)

The Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan presented the Sapporo Declaration titled "Declaration on the United Nations SDGs at Sapporo 2019 Chemical Engineering for Human Well-Being," at APCChE 2019. The primary objective is for chemical engineers to contribute to the promotion of human well-being through the advancement of technologies based on chemical engineering.

In this symposium, we will focus on the challenges faced by small island developing states (SIDS) and explore ways to solve these challenges by utilizing the knowledge accumulated within the researchers and experts in the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan and integrating the knowledge and efforts of other fields that have been involved in development. Specifically, lectures from various perspectives from within and outside the society will be followed by a panel discussion and participatory group discussions among the participants for discussing collaboration in the future.
